Bread n’ Butter Tour in Singapore
Bread n’ Butter Ep#55
BNB tour at Singapore
It’s been more than a year since our show has been running and we’ve learned a lot from these experiences. We’ve showcased different businesses and attractions, met and was inspired by entrepreneurs who made it big in their own rights and tasted some of the best foods that the Philippines has to offer. We guess it’s high time that we showcase what other Asian countries have to offer including their sight, sounds, foods, culture and people. So we packed our bags and headed off to this cultural and business tour of our neighboring countries. First stop in our itinerary is the fabled city of Singapore.
It is a microstate and the smallest nation in Southeast Asia. We started our tour by visiting the Merlion Park one of the landmarks of the city. Within this attraction, we saw the gigantic statue of the Merlion a mythical creature with the head of a lion and the body of a fish which represents the countries original name Singapura the “lion city” Then we headed to the Fountain of Wealth. Located at the center of the Suntec City Mall, the gigantic structure was listed in the Guinness Book of World Record in 1998 as the largest fountain in the world. It got its name from the belief that water represents “life and wealth” according to the Chinese tradition of Feng Shui. So the inward flow of the water in the fountain came to mean the retention of wealth thus it was called the Fountain of Wealth. At certain periods of the day, the fountain is turned off so that visitors can walk around a mini fountain located in the center for good luck. At night the fun really begins. We had such a treat at the fountain just by watching the dazzling laser show held there. The combination of light and water interacting with each other produces a magnificent and exhilarating show that wows the crowd.
Another attraction nearby is the Suntec City mall one of the largest mall in Singapore where we satisfied our shopping addiction. The five storey state of the art structure boasts of dozens of shops which offers expensive and top of the line brands. Add to that the fine dining and fast food restaurants circling the well lighted and spacious floors. We indeed have our fill in the sumptuous servings of the food offered by these classy restaurants. Conventions, events and exhibition of different kinds are constantly held at the function rooms and event centers there.
Sentosa Island is a unique patch of land that aims to fulfill anyone’s childhood fantasies. It offers a wide array of leisure services including recreational facilities (sea sports, golf facilities, restaurants and hotel accommodations. The island is sprawled on a 500 hectare land and open 365 days, accommodating likely 5 million visitors yearly. The most exciting activity here is the dozens of rides located throughout the island. We wouldn’t miss this in this lifetime.
Surely you will get tired of all the activities in Singapore like we were so we suggest that you try the pampering service of ADD Javanese Spa. With our tired bodies this is a welcome respite to us. This is also a way to recharge our energies for another day of fun, frolic and discovery. Expert masseuse will attend to you in the most friendly and relaxed manner.
Another of Asia’s jewels unmasked and discovered. Singapore is not just a one stop shopping city. As we discovered the real attraction here is the unassuming, courteous and hardworking people that we made friends with. Tamed in its splendor and vibrancies, we are looking forward in visiting this city again.
